Commuters start flocking to bus terminals for Undas trips to provinces
A few days before All Saints' Day, commuters have started flocking to bus terminals for trips to provinces for the holiday, a report on Unang Balita on Thursday said.
At the Araneta Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City, some commuters were spotted waiting for their buses early on Thursday, with a few of them having spent the night there, GMA News' Dano Tingcungco reported.
The terminal is not yet full of people as the bulk of passengers is expected to arrive after office hours end on Friday and during the weekend.
Filipinos traditionally head to their home provinces on All Saints' Day, Nov. 1, to pay their respects to their dead loved ones.
Since Oct. 31, Monday is a special non-working holiday, and Nov. 1 is also a holiday, it will be a long weekend for many Filipinos.
In fact, authorities are expecting the volume of passengers this year at the terminal to surpass the 2015 total of 8,000.

Security around the terminal remains strict, the report said.
Aside from rerouting to efficiently manage the flow of traffic of buses and passengers, police and guards were also seen monitoring the area to ensure peace and order.
Authorities have advised commuters to take trips earlier not only in bus terminals but also in seaports and airports.
Commuters were also advised to allot enough time for baggage inspection. —KG, GMA News
