70 families lose homes in Pasig fire

Fire broke out in a residential area along East Bank Road in Brgy. Sta. Lucia in Pasig City on Wednesday night, and 70 families lost their homes, a report on Unang Balita on Thursday said.

The fire, which started at 6 p.m., went on for three hours and razed 30 houses near the floodway, GMA News' Athena Imperial reported.

Neighbors tried to help firemen put out the fire but it quickly spread since the houses were made of light materials.

Radio dzBB reported that the fire reached the fourth alarm.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Chief Insp. Roy D. Quisto, Pasig City fire marshal, said they are investigating if a short circuit caused the fire.

Damage was placed at P2.5 million.

Affected residents were brought to a covered court in the barangay for temporary shelter. —KG, GMA News
