Dragon boat team member missing in Manila Bay

A member of a dragon boat team went missing after their boat sank during training in Manila Bay on Saturday.

A report by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) identified the missing rower as Jerome Tipon, 30, a resident of Tondo, Manila and member of the  Alab dragon boat team.

The report said that the team's boat sank during training. The mishap happened near the Manila Yacht Club.

Initial report said a total of 22 rowers participated in the boat training.

The PCG said four floating assets with 2 divers have launched surface and underwater search operations for the missing rower.

It said that a Philippine Navy ship has been deployed in the area to provide assistance in the search and rescue operations. —ALG, GMA News
