Edgel Joy laid to rest amid family's cry for justice

Edgel Joy Durolfo, the slain assistant manager of a casino in Parañaque City, was laid to rest Thursday afternoon amid her relatives' cry for justice.

The 25-year-old Durolfo, who was also a part-time model, was brought to Heaven's Gate Garden in Antipolo City past 2 p.m.

The funeral closed with the release of white balloons and butterfiles to symbolize the deceased's spirit.

She died on Friday afternoon at the San Juan de Dios Hospital along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, hours after she was brought there by her boyfriend Rodney Ynchausti.

According to reports, Durolfo was badly bruised and unconscious when brought to the hospital a day after she, Ynchausti and three other friends held a party at the Solaire Resort and Casino where she worked as an assistant manager.

Durolfo's death certificate said she died of asphyxia by manual strangulation.

Ynchausti and their three friends—all of whom are being considered persons of interest by the police—were a no-show during the funeral.

Ynchausti reportedly went to the wake on Tuesday but was turned away by Durolfo's mother Evangel.

Meanwhile, James Tiu, the victim's manager in her modeling job, told GMA News Online that Evangel  had already went to the Parañaque Fiscal's Office to discuss complaints that could be filed against Ynchausti  and the three others, identified as Molo Hwang, Josiebell Lim Uy, and Paulo Egoc.

Ynchausti, Hwang and Uy were also said to be employees of Solaire Resort and Casino.

In their respective affidavits, the four persons of interest said there was no foul play in Durolfo's death. Ynchausti, however, admitted that he and Durolfo took the illegal drug ecstacy during the party.
