Ex-cager Ervic Vijandre figures in altercation in Pasay

Former basketball star and actor Ervic Vijandre was arrested on Friday after being involved in an altercation with another man in Pasay City.

A report by GMA News' Bam Alegre on Balitanghali Saturday said that Vijandre was nabbed by authorities for his involvement in an altercation with Genesis Aniag, 26.

Aniag claimed that he was on his way to a restaurant in Salem Compound, Domestic Road at past 10 p.m. when he was approached by Vijandre.

"Lumapit siya sa akin, sinabi niya sa 'kin, ikaw ba si Gen Aniag? Nung sinabi ko na ako si Gen Aniag, bigla niya na 'kong inupakan na hindi ko alam kung anong dahilan niya," Aniag said.

Police Officer 1 Jackson Obando of the Pasay City Police Station said security guards from the establishment broke up Vijandre and Aniag.

Obando said that both men were brought to the police station for questioning.

"Nakahiga, binubuhat po siya ng guard tapos tinulungan po siyang itayo. Nung pagkatayo po, bigla pong umalis yung victim (Aniag) papunta po sa Uno Bistro. Tapos yung suspect (Vijandre) na po natin, na-hold po ng guard," Obando said.

He added: "Dahil dun po sa pangyayari, tinuturo po siya nung victim, marami pong complainant na nakakita. Hino-hold po namin yung tao. Tapos sinama po namin sa presinto."

Alegre reported that Vijandre, who also had bruises, refused to issue a statement when asked at the police precinct.
