MMDA stops road diggings this December
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority issued a moratorium on road diggings for the month of December, a report on News To Go on Wednesday said.
From Dec. 14, road repairs will no longer be allowed in Metro Manila.
The agency expects traffic to become heavy by then due to the Christmas rush.
The moratorium on road diggings will be until January 3, 2016.
Some 146 road projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways have been scheduled in Metro Manila, the report said.
Meanwhile, MMDA chairman Emerson Carlos clarified that the plastic barriers on EDSA which were used for designated APEC lanes in November do not contribute to heavy traffic.
The MMDA is planning to use the same barriers for designated Christmas lanes. —KG, GMA News
