Cops looking at 3 angles in killing of Pastillas Girl's mother

Police are looking at three angles in the killing of the mother of online personality Angelica Jane Yap a.k.a. Pastillas Girl.

"Anggulo po na puwedeng ang threat ay galing sa kanyang hanapbuhay bilang kagawad... May business angle at personal na motibo," Senior Superintendent Bart Bustamante, told GMA News' QRT on Monday afternoon.

Earlier reports said that barangay kagawad Maria Theresa Hernandez Yap has a love problem.

Bustamante said that the barangay official also has a small business, which may also be the reason for her killing.

The police official added that the killing could also be related to the victim's job as a councilor, citing her hard stance against illegal drugs in their barangay.

"We will eliminate one after the other through pieces of evidence," he said, adding that they have formed a special investigation task group, which he leads, to focus on the killing of the barangay councilor.

The barangay official was shot at close range by a lone gunman while sitting in one of the tables of an eatery at the corner of Tagaytay and Cabatuan streets in Barangay 131.

The owner of the eatery told GMA News Online that before the actual shooting, the gunman told him that he was there to kill a drug pusher.

Bustamante said that they will try to come up with a composite sketch of the shooter's through the CCTV footage of the killing and testimonies from the witnesses.

The police official said that witnesses, who are afraid to come out in the open, can send him a message through mobile phone number 09175011989.

"Direct number ko po iyan para po hindi magleak ang information diretso po ipagtiwala sa akin, para po maingatan po ang kanilang mga identity," Bustamante said.

During the same interview, Angelica Jane said that they still have no clue on the possible motive for her mother's killing.

"Sa ngayon po kasi kami rin hindi rin po kasi namin alam kung ano po ang mga possible na dahilan kung bakit nangyari po iyon sa mommy ko," she said.

She confirmed that before the shooting, her mother has received death threats through her phone.

She said her mother did not take the threats seriously.

Angelica Jane also urged those who witnessed the killing to cooperate with the police. —ALG, GMA News
