Binay filed her certificate of candidacy Thursday at the Commission on Elections office in Makati City. She will be running alongside Congresswoman Monique Lagdameo, who represents the first district of Makati City in the House of Representatives.
The daughter of Vice President Jejomar Binay earlier said she will run for mayor if her brother, Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay is unable to campaign for his old post after the Ombudsman ordered his dismissal and disqualification from the government service.
The congresswoman, however, said that the mayor would exhaust all legal means so he could run for reelection in the city.
Vice President Binay's daughter is on her third and last term as the representative of Makati's second district.

With Abigail running for Junjun’s post, her husband, Luis Campos will aim to succeed her in Congress.
In a text message, the lawmaker said the decision for Campos to run for a congressional seat was made way back in 2012.
“As early as 2012, my husband Luis Campos and I, decided that he should run for Congress. He will file his COC in due time,” Abigail said.
