Manila Water customers to experience water pressure reduction starting Sept. 21

Customers of Manila Water in Metro Manila and parts of Rizal will experience daily a 7-hour reduction in the water pressure in their areas beginning Monday, Sept. 21, a report on Unang Balita on Thursday said.

Manila Water said this will take effect from 10 p.m. up to 5 a.m.

The water pressure reduction will affect some 155 barangays in Makati, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Parañaque, Pasig, Quezon City, San Juan, Taguig, and Antipolo.

It will also affect the municipalities of Angono, Cainta, and Taytay.

The company said the reduction in water pressure is necessary for them to manage the water supply from Angat Dam.

"We seek the understanding of those affected by this necessary inconvenience. Manila Water has to manage water supply and pressure to ensure that all customers receive water every day. We are implementing these service interruptions to help extend the supply from Angat until the second quarter of 2016," Jeric Sevilla, OIC for Corporate Strategic Affairs Group and Head of Corporate Communications of Manila Water, said.

The dry spell from the El Niño weather phenomenon has affected the distribution of water from the dam.

Maynilad Water Services, on the other hand, began its water service interruption from 9 p.m. Wednesday—KG, GMA News
