‘Vengeful’ suspect arrested in Quiapo for shooting siblings' killer

A suspect in the shooting of a man in broad daylight in Quiapo, Manila was arrested after a failed attempt to flee from authorities, GMA's “24 Oras Weekend” reported Saturday.

The report identified the suspect as Sampco Ampuan, who allegedly shot the victim in the head after tailing him into an alley.

The suspect then ran, tripping twice and even attempted to hitch on the back of a jeepney but fell, leading to his arrest.

“Nakita ko po iyong suspect na may hawak ng baril na tumatakbong patakas. And then umatras po ako konti para obserbahan kung mayroon siyang mga kasabwat o kasama sa labas,” arresting officer PO1 Clyde Salazar said.

Ampuan said the killing was to avenge his siblings' deaths at the hands of the victim in 2004.

“Nung pinatay ko hindi ako nagsisi kasi talagang nakaganti na ako,” he said.

Recovered from the suspect was a 9mm pistol. He will be charged with murder and illegal possession of firearms. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
