Manila police arrest alleged 'hypnotizing' con man for swindling

Police arrested a suspected con man who allegedly hypnotized his victims after a potential victim detected his lie when he impersonated the Japanese owner of a bar they personally knew.

"Ang suot niya ngayon, talagang naka-neck tie siya, mukhang executive... mahusay siyang mag-Nihongo, kaya yung mga tao naniniwala," Jing Langomez, a victim, said on GMA's "24 Oras" on Tuesday.

The suspect, Eric Santos, claimed he could make his victims unable to resist his will for an hour after engaging them within the first two minutes of their conversation.

"Jane", one of his victims, said she and her companions were unable to resist Santos as he took their jewelry from them at a mall in Manila.

'Dun na po kami natauhan," she said.

Santos was charged with swindling (estafa) for violating Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code.
