Malacañang declares July 2 special non-working holiday in Pasig


Malacañang has declared Pasig Day on July 2 as a special non-working holiday.
 
Proclamation No. 1061, signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa on Monday, was made to mark the celebration of the city's 442nd anniversary.
 
It said the holiday was declared to give the residents of Pasig City the "full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies."

One of the oldest towns in the Philippines, Pasig was created in 1572 by Augustinians. It used to be the provincial capital of Rizal province until 1975.
