Manila traffic enforcer caught in bribe video gets axed

A Manila traffic enforcer caught on video haggling for a bribe was fired, Vice Mayor Isko Moreno said in a report on GMA News' early evening newscast, “24 Oras”, on Tuesday.

He identified the traffic enforcer as Ben Solares.

The video, taken by the driver's girlfriend after they were asked to pull over following a traffic violation, showed Solares haggling with the driver.

Both parties agreed to call it a day at P300 but the couple discovered they only had P260 left, which the enforcer took anyway.

The driver also reaped negative comments from social media after he initiated the bribery. In his defense he said he only did it to prove that the enforcer will actually accept the bribe.

— Andrei Medina/ELR, GMA News
