PNR stops operations for exhaustive inspection

Philippine National Railways suspended its operations Tuesday to give way to an exhaustive inspection of its rails following the derailment of one of its trains last week in Makati City.

This is to ensure the safety of the riding public, PNR said.

According to PNR assistant manager Diosdado Silva, their officers and engineers will meet this morning regarding the inspection before conducting the inspection itself. Upon detection of any problem with their rails from Manila to Laguna, immediate repairs will be made.

As of the moment, PNR still has no date as to when they will restore full operations.

The riding public is advised to seek alternative means of transportation for now.

PNR assures that they will be open as soon as they are done with the necessary inspection and repairs. —KG, GMA News
