PAO offers legal assistance to family of woman who died after drinking milk tea

The Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) has offered legal assistance to the family of Suzaine Dagohoy, the customer who died after drinking milk tea from a shop in Sampaloc, Manila last week.

Aside from PAO, a major law firm has also proposed to give its legal services for free to the Dagohoy family, a report aired on “24 Oras” Sunday said.

Frederick Dagohoy, Suzaine’s brother, said the family is grateful to the assistance offered by PAO and the law firm.

“Malaking tulong sa amin yun financially kasi hindi na namin iisipin ‘yung kailangang gastusin [sa pag-pursue ng kaso],” he said.

Frederick earlier said the family is bent on pursuing charges against the owners and management of the ErgoCha milk tea shop over Suzaine’s death.

She and shop owner William Abrigo, who tasted the milk tea when Suzaine and her companion complained of a strange taste, were declared dead on arrival after they were rushed to the hospital.

She will be buried next week.

Suzaine’s boyfriend Arnold Aydalla, is reportedly now in a stable condition. He is expected to leave the hospital soon.

“Na-shock ako dahil unexpected [ang nangyari]. Makulit si [Suzaine] at masayahing kaibigan. In terms of work, nagtutulungan kami kapag may concerns kami,” said Aisa Paraiso, Dagohoy’s colleague said.

The Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory is scheduled to release Dagohoy’s autopsy report either on Monday or Tuesday next week.  — Xianne Arcangel/JDS, GMA News
