Tondo fire leaves 200 families homeless

At least 200 families were left homeless after a Saturday morning fire razed a hundred homes in Barangay 55 in Tondo, Manila, GMA 7 news program “24 Oras Weekend” reported.

Though the report failed to specify when the fire started and when it was finally put out, the fire was said to have lasted five hours with the alarm raised to Task Force Bravo.

Property damage was estimated at P3 million.

F/C Insp. Ruben Ramirez said that the fire started from a neglected candle. “Mayroon namang current dito, may kuryente. Kaso sabi ng residents na katabi nila parang nagflu-fluctuate yung kuryente sa kanila kaya gumagamit sila ng kandila,” Ramirez explained.

The now homeless families were temporarily residing at the Jose Rizal Elementary school. — Andrei Medina/DVM, GMA News
