Traffic rerouted in parts of NCR on eve of Chinese New Year
Traffic may be rerouted in parts of northern Metro Manila on Wednesday evening for the Chinese New Year countdown activities, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Monday.
Filipinos are to celebrate the Lunar New Year on Feb. 19, which is a special non-working day.
In an advisory, the MMDA said the road closures will be in effect from 7 p.m. to midnight of Wednesday, Feb. 18.
The MMDA said there may be a partial closure of the south side of EDSA fronting the Mercury Drug Store/Tropical Hut) beginning from BMC to B. Serrano Avenue, which has been designated as the activity area.
A rerouting scheme that will take effect at 5 p.m. includes:
North side of EDSA: two-way traffic between A. De Jesus to BMC
For vehicles form EDSA to Valenzuela:
- buses to turn right at Gen. Simon and turn left to Calle Cuatro
- other vehicles to proceed at rotunda and turn right to McArthur
For vehicles form EDSA to Sangandaan:
- turn left at A. De Jesus and turn right to 10th Avenue
For vehicles from McArthur to Balintawak:
- use counter-flow at north side of EDSA and merge to right side traffic at U-Turn slot before A. De Jesus Street
For vehicles from Samson Road to Balintawak:
- turn right to Rizal Avenue Ext. and take 10th Avenue and B. Serrano to EDSA
Meanwhile, Rizal Avenue Extension will be closed to traffic from 10th Avenue to BMC.
Affected vehicles are to turn right at 10th Avenue and turn left at B. Serrano Avenue. — Joel Locsin/RSJ, GMA News
