Traffic builds up at NLEX, EDSA as Pinoys return to NCR from provinces
Predawn traffic along parts of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue was slowed before dawn Monday as passengers who spent the holidays in the provinces returned to the National Capital Region (Metro Manila).
Traffic also began to build up at parts of the North Luzon Expressway shortly before 5 a.m. as some Filipinos waited until the last minute to return to work.
Some buses turned sidewalks into parking areas while taxis parked near bus terminals to get passengers, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported.
However, some passengers complained many taxi drivers were choosy, the report added.
At the northbound part of EDSA-Kamuning, the area near the flyover where three bus terminals are located was turned into a parking lot.
NLEX traffic
Meanwhile, NLEX reported a build-up of traffic at Balintawak southbound going to EDSA as of 4:50 a.m.
It also said the buildup continued at 5:27 a.m.
Earlier, dzBB's James Agustin reported the NLEX had smooth traffic but expects Manila-bound traffic to peak from 5 to 8 a.m.
At the South Luzon Expressway, dzBB's Luisito Santos reported traffic was also smooth since Sunday night. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
