Rain triggers landslide in Antipolo City

Heavy rain in parts of Rizal province triggered a landslide in Antipolo City Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred in Barangay San Jose, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

While no one was initially reported injured, some power lines in the area were affected, the report said.

However, a check with the city rescue team indicated no casualties so far.

Rain had been falling over parts of the country this week but state weather agency PAGASA said this is mainly due to the inter-tropical convergence zone.

PAGASA said the rain is not a direct effect of Typhoon Ompong (Vongfong), which exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility after noon Saturday and is heading for Japan. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
