MMDA updates list of flood-prone areas


The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) released on Friday an updated version of its list of flood-prone areas.
 
In an interview with GMA News Online, MMDA Flood Control and Sewerage Office Director Engr. Maxima Quiambao provided the new list of 21 flood-prone areas:
 
 
    España-Antipolo-Maceda in Manila
 
    P. Burgos-Manila City Hall vicinity
 
    Osmeña-Skyway northbound and southbound, Makati
 
    Don Bosco, Makati
 
    Buendia-South Superhighway southbound
 
    Buendia-South Superhighway northbound
 
    C-5-Bagong Ilog
 
    West Service Road, Merville, Paranaque
 
    East Service Road, Sales Street
 
    North Avenue in front of Trinoma
 
    Buendia extension Macapagal avenue - World Trade
 
    EDSA - Camp Aguinaldo Gate 3
 
    NLEX Balintawak - Cloverleaf
 
    EDSA Megamall
 
    EDSA Pasong Tamo Magallanes Tunnel
 
    Quezon Avenue, Victory avenue/Biak na Bato
 
    C-5-BCDA, Taguig City
 
    R. Papa-Rizal Avenue, Manila
 
    C-5 Bayani Road
 
    Katipunan Avenue in front of Shakey's
 
According to Quiambao, they removed three areas from the list including EDSA-North Avenue, Quezon City; C-5 McKinley Road and Philcoa Area, Quezon City.
 
She said the flooding in these areas has not been as bad after the MMDA completed flood control projects there.
 
Quiambao added that the stretch of Katipunan Avenue in front of Shakey's was the new entry to the list of flood-prone areas.
 
She said they have several ongoing flood control projects which are expected to resolve flooding in these areas. — JDS, GMA News
