Deniece Cornejo released on bail, finally

After two days of preparing her P500,000 bail and other requirements for her provisional liberty, model Deniece Cornejo left her detention facility on Thursday.

Cornejo, who's facing assault and serious illegal detention charges in connection with the mauling in January of TV personality Vhong Navarro, left the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group jail at 4:30 p.m., rzBB reporter Tuesday Niu said in a report.

Cornejo was released two days after her co-accused Cedric Lee and Zimmer Raz were released on Tuesday after posting bail.  The Taguig Regional Trial Court granted their petition for bail on Monday.

Cornejo's legal counsel Ferdinand Topacio told the media that the release order for Cornejo had already been signed, said a report by GMA News' Saleema Refran.

Radio reports said that Cornejo thanked her supporters and family for praying for her.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa mga nagdasal para sa akin. Nagdadasal po ako gabi gabi,” Cornejo said in a short statement. —Bianca Rose Dabu/NB, GMA News
