3 suffocate as fire hits QC factory
(Updated 12:22 p.m.) At least three people, two of them firefighters, suffocated as a fire of undetermined origin hit a factory in Quezon City before noon Wednesday.
The three lost consciousness after inhaling the smoke and fumes from the factory along Mendez Street in Barangay Baesa, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.
Citing initial information, the dzBB report said the factory was used to make products with rubber, including sandals.
Firefighters had a hard time getting to the area due to the narrow streets. Traffic was tight at roads near the site of the fire.
