QC police arrest suspected mastermind behind killing of racer Enzo Pastor
(Updated 10:24 a.m.) The Quezon City police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit has arrested the suspected mastermind behind the murder of race car driver Ferdinand "Enzo" Pastor, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported Wednesday.
He has been identified as Domingo de Guzman III, a businessman, a report from GMA News' Jay Sabale on GMA News TV's News to Go said.
Pastor was killed in Quezon City last June 12. He was transporting a race car to Pampanga from Batangas, and had stopped at a traffic light. He was then shot to death by two men on a motorcycle.
Casing from .45 caliber pistol rounds were recovered at the crime scene.
The alleged mastermind's arrest came a few days after the gunman was arrested in an anti-drug operation.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown, although previous reports had indicated the authorities are looking into a "love triangle" that may have led to the shooting.
Both the suspected mastermind and shooter are expected to be charged before the Department of Justice later on Wednesday.
Pastor was the first Filipino to participate in the NASCAR Whelen Euroseries Open Championship race circuit.
