NBI busts prostitution ring in raid on Quiapo mall

At least 15 alleged victims of prostitution, including 7 minors, were rescued in a raid on a mall in Quiapo, Manila, a report on GMA's "24 Oras" said Thursday.

According to NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division Chief Atty. Eric Nuqui, syndicates had been using the fourth level of the mall as their showroom. Deals were then sealed on the fifth floor, after which, clients brought the victims to nearby motels.

“During the actual entrapment operation, the entire transaction took place inside this establishment particularly at the fifth floor, malapit sa cinema,” Nuqui said. He added that prices for sexual services range from P500 to P2000.

NBI operatives conducted the raid as soon as they confirmed the illegal activities through an asset.

Six suspected pimps were arrested during the operation. They have denied the allegations.

Nuqui said they will invite the mall management for questioning.

“Iimbitahan din natin ang establishment na ito dahil nabanggit ko nga ito ay pangatlong operasyon na sa nasabing establishment and we want to find out what they are doing about this,” he said.

The minors are currently under the care of the Social Welfare Department. — Andrei Medina/JDS, GMA News
