Glitch at Buendia Station disrupts MRT trips
(Updated 5:37 p.m.) Commuters using the Metro Rail Transit 3 were inconvenienced anew Sunday after a glitch hit the system again.
Light Rail Transit Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the problem was at the Buendia Station.
But as of 11:30 a.m., Cabrera said the MRT resumed full-line operations.
In an earlier interview on dzBB radio, he said the train had to be pushed, and that as of 10:30 a.m., MRT trips were limited.
"MRT3 defective train at Buendia Station, half life operation, North Avenue to Shaw Boulevard and back only implemented at around 10:30 AM," Cabrera later said on his Twitter account.
The latest incident was a repeat of last Friday's occurrence, when a train stalled between Ortigas and Santolan Stations and also had to be pushed by another train to the North Avenue terminal.
Last Wednesday, a coach of the MRT went out of control and overshot the safety barrier at the Taft Avenue Station in Pasay City.
Nearly 40 people were injured.
