Suspects in fatal Servando hazing may surrender next week

Some of the suspects in the fatal hazing of De La Salle College of St. Benilde student Guillo Servando may surrender this coming week, as their relatives sent feelers to authorities.

Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban Jr. said they managed to talk to relatives of the suspects, GMA News' John Consulta reported on "Saksi" Friday night.

"About four, five sila na nagpapahiwatig na sila ay handang isuko ang kanilang mga anak. Eenganyuhin pa nila ang iba nilang kasama," Lukban said.

He said they indicated they want to surrender together to seek forgiveness from the hazing victims' family.

Servando died from his injuries while undergoing a fraternity initiation rite last June 28. Three fellow neophytes were also injured in the rite.

"At kung saka-sakali gusto nila sana sama sama silang sumuko dahil para sa kanila may pahiwatig ang paghingi ng paumanhin sa pamilya," Lukban said.

For their part, National Bureau of Investigation agents tried to serve a subpoena on Cody Morales, a fraternity official linked to the hazing.

But Morales was not at home when the agents arrived at his house in Makati City. Caretakers claimed he had not gone home since Monday.

Meanwhile, Servando's father Aurelio met with NBI agents and the registrar of De La Salle University Friday, after getting information three DLSU students who are members of the fraternity were involved in the hazing.

The NBI obtained the names and photos of the students, the "Saksi" report said. DLSU students are reportedly to sign a waiver they are not to join a fraternity, lest they be expelled.

"Anyone who has information about this case contact me through NBI or police and pwede tayo mag-usap sa inyo. Although pinatay nyo anak ko I'm still open to anything," the elder Servando said. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
