Don’t dump waste water into drainage, MMDA asks restaurants

To prevent or at least minimize the chances of floods in Metro Manila this rainy season, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority appealed to owners of restaurants not to dump their waste water into drainage.

MMDA assistant general manager for operations Emerson Carlos said this means water mixed with substances like cooking oil, radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz reported early last week.

Carlos was quoted in the dzBB report as saying the practice by some establishments of throwing untreated waste water can clog the drainage system.

The MMDA is among the agencies trying to minimize the chances of flooding in Metro Manila during the rainy season.
