Deniece Cornejo turns 23 in detention

Model Deniece Cornejo on Sunday celebrated her 23rd birthday in detention at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame.

But Cornejo, who faces criminal charges related to the mauling of TV host and actor Vhong Navarro last January, did not appear to lose her poise for the occasion.

A photo tweeted by GMA News' Saleema Refran showed a smiling Cornejo posing for the cameras, with balloons and a sign reading "Happy Birthday! Deniece we love you" behind her.

Relatives and friends took part in the celebration, GMA News' Refran tweeted.

One of Cornejo's guests was fellow model Roxanne Cabanero, who like Cornejo lodged a rape complaint against Navarro. Both models hugged each other, according to a report on "24 Oras."

Another photo tweeted by Refran showed Cabanero chatting with Cornejo.
