Arrest warrants out vs. Cedric, Deniece, 3 others in Vhong Navarro serious illegal detention case

Police in southern Metro Manila on Monday obtained copies of the arrest warrants for five of seven personalities charged for the mauling of actor-TV host Vhong Navarro last January.

Southern Police District head Chief Superintendent Jose Villacorte said they requested the Taguig City court for copies of the warrants, radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported.

The warrants against the five were for serious illegal detention.

With the copies of the five warrants, the SPD can go after trader Cedric Lee, model Deniece Cornejo, Simeon Raz, Ferdinand Guerrero and Sajed “Jed” Fernandez Abuhijleh.

It was not immediately clear why the SPD was not furnished copies of the warrants against Bernice Lee and Jose Paolo Gregorio Calma.

Villacorte was quoted in the report as saying they got the copies of the warrants Monday noon.

Villacorte said the warrants were issued by presiding judge Paz Esperanza M. Cortes of Regional Trial Court Branch 271 in Taguig City.

Serious illegal detention is a non-bailable case. The case is pending before the Regional Trial Court Branch 271 in Taguig City. —Joel Locsin/KG, GMA News
