MMDA identifies alternative routes for Iglesia ni Cristo activity in Manila

Commuters and motorists were advised Sunday to take alternative routes within the National Capital Region on Monday during an event of the Iglesia ni Cristo in Manila.

An MMDA document obtained by GMA News Online also indicated that some two million people are expected to take part in the religious group's medical and dental mission.

It added that the event will be undertaken simultaneously in five locations:

The MMDA said participants will come from five ecclesiastical districts of Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite and Bulacan, and that most of them will be transported by around 1,500 buses.

It added that the event will start with a march at 5 a.m.

Meanwhile, medical and dental teams are to set up their facilities at the areas of operation at 12 noon Sunday.

The MMDA also advised commuters and motorists to avoid at least 46 intersections in Metro Manila.

Earlier, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada suspended classes in Manila for Monday due to the medical and dental mission by the religious group in various places in Manila.

Alternative routes

The MMDA has advised motorists to take the following alternative routes:

From Manila to Quezon City
- Take Taft Avenue, right or left turn to U.N. Avenue, left turn to Otis, left turn to Nagtahan to destination.

From Quezon City to Manila
- Take España, right to Lacson, Tayuman left turn to Jose Abad Santos, Regin Regente, J. Luna, Plaza Cervantes, Jones Bridge, P. Burgos to destination.
- Take España, left turn to Lacson, Nagtahan, right to Otis, right to U.N. Avenue to destination.

From Caloocan to Luneta
- Rizal Ave., right to Tayuman, left to Jose Abad Santos, Regine Regente, J. Luna, Plaza Cervantes, Jones Bridge to destination.

From Luneta to Caloocan
- Take Jones Bridge, Quintin Paredes, Regina Regente, Jose Abad Santos, Rizal Avenue to destination.

From Divisoria to Cubao Viar. Magsaysay Boulevard
- Take C.M. Recto, left turn to Jose Abad Santos, right turn to Tayuman, Lacson, right to Earnshaw, left at Legarda, to Legarda-Nagtahan flyover to destination.

From Cubao to Divisoria
- Take R. Magsaysay Boulevard, Nagtahan flyover, right at Earnshaw, left at Lacson, Tayuman, left to Jose Abad Santos, left to destination.

From Divisoria to Cubao
- Take C.M. Recto, left at Jose Abad Santos, right at Tayuman, Lacson, right Earnshaw, left at Legarda, Nagtahan flyover to destination.

Designated parking areas

Meanwhile, the MMDA also noted the designated parking areas of delegates attending the event. These include:

1. Plaza del Carmen
- Stretch of Palanca St. (both sides)

2. Plaza Avelino
- Stretch of Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard (both sides)
- Stretch of A. Lacson (both sides)

3. Magallanes Drive Ext. (facing post office)
- Stretch of P. Burgos (both sides)
- Stretch of Bonifacio Drive (both sides)
- Stretch of TM Kalaw (both sides)

4. Quinta Market
- Both sides of Quezon Boulevard (both sides)

5. Parking space at the back of FEU, along CM Recto
- Stretch of CM Recto (both sides)
