Cristina Decena: I know who tried to kill me
Cristina Decena, the businesswoman who survived a planned ambush at Quezon City on Wednesday said that she knew who was behind all of this, according to a report form “24-Oras” on Friday.
A teary-eyed and emotionally shaken Decena faced the media with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and police authorities where she confidently said she knew who attempted to take her life.
She refrained from naming the mastermind but said the ambush was due to issues such as land grabbing, estafa, and falsification charges she had made.
"Pag napatahimik nila ako, pag napatay nila ako, siyempre wala ng complainant sa kaso," Decena said.
She noted that she has been receiving death threats in the past and recalled how she recently cheated death.
"Halos itago ko yung sarili ko doon sa flooring ng limousine. Salo ko lahat ng mga bubog. Takot na takot ako [para] sa buhay ng anak ko," Decena said. "At ang layo-layo na namin pinapaulanan pa kami ng bala kaya umalis ako sa sasakyan para makakaligtas yung anak ko."
Decena was with her maid and her son Danilo, who was driving their vehicle during the ambush.
Only the maid was hurt due to the shattered glass from the window of their vehicle.
Meanwhile, the NBI and the Manila Police District launched a manhunt operation on a third suspect on Friday after the daring shooting incident, which occurred in broad daylight around 1 p.m.
The target is suspected to be an active officer of the Philippine National Police.
"Hinahanap po natin yung sinasabing [alias] 'wagas.' If he will not be reporting, then he will be marked AWOL then he will be investigated. Hahanapin natin siya," said Chief Supt. Isagani Genabe Jr.
Two of the suspects, identified as neighbors Edgardo Vinalla and Henry Quinones, were presented to the media on Friday.
They were caught in a government-run hostel on Wednesday, but both strongly denied the allegations or any relations with the victims. — Andrei Medina/VC, GMA News
