Car gets rammed, crushed along Katipunan Ave in double-truck collision


(Updated 7:10 a.m., 18 July 2013) A Honda Civic was badly crushed and its female driver badly injured after a truck rammed the car from behind as it was going down Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City, tossing it over to the opposite lane where a cement truck collided with it head-on.

The mishap occurred near the foot of the Katipunan-Aurora flyover, in front of the Ateneo de Manila campus, at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, GMA 7 program "Unang Hirit" reported.

The mixer was coming down the flyover, headed in the direction of Balara when It crashed into the Honda, which was headed in the Libis direction.

The truck involved in the initial collision was nowhere to be found, and was reported to have sped away.

Emergency response teams had to use the “jaws of life,” a hydraulic rescue tool, to extricate the female driver from the crushed Honda. She was immediately rushed away to hospital in an ambulance. — DVM, GMA News
