Divisoria mall fire finally out
Some four days after it started, the fire that hit a mall in Manila's Divisoria district was finally put out before dawn Monday. Firefighters declared the fire at the New Divisoria Mall out at about 4:25 a.m. Monday, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported. Arson investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, including the possibility that it was caused by an electrical short circuit. Some business establishments near the building were affected by the fire, which started in the early hours of May 16. In an earlier report by dzBB's Roland Bola, Bureau of Fire Protection Metro Manila deputy director for operations Senior Superintendent Anderson Comar, estimated the damage to property was as high as P250 million. He added at least nine people had been injured since the fire broke out. Initial investigation showed the fire started at the basement of the mall and spread to the upper floors. — DVM, GMA News
