Fire hits parts of Manila Film Center

(Updated 9:21 a.m., Feb. 20) A fire hit parts of the Manila Film Center in Pasay City Tuesday evening, prompting fire trucks from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and volunteer fire brigades to respond to the emergency. According to a report by Dante Perello on GMA News TV program “State of the Nation with Jessica Soho”, the fire started just past 7 p.m. and reached the fifth alarm. The fire was put out a little before 9:30 p.m. The Manila Film Center has lately been used for cultural presentations. On Tuesday night, around 70 performers from the theatrical presentation “The Amazing Show” were rehearsing when they heard “pops” and saw smoke and fire come out of the third floor.

With the fire out, BFP investigators are trying to determine if anyone was trapped inside the Manila Film Center. Investigators are also still determining the cause of the fire. But given the age of the building, BFP authorities said it was possible the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring. — DVM/KG, GMA News
