Manila civil registry office transactions suspended 1 week due to floods

No thanks to last week's floods brought by enhanced monsoon rain, transactions at the civil registry office in Manila will be suspended for at least one week.

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim said the suspension of official transactions started August 14, and may last until August 21.

"The City Civil Registry is not conducive for public service and needs to dry a lot of civil documents damaged by the 'habagat'," Lim said in a note on his Facebook account.

He said his announcement was based on a memorandum issued by City Administrator Jesus Mari Marzan.

Last week, heavy rain brought by an enhanced monsoon caused floods in many parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces.
