PAGASA raises red warning over Metro Manila

According to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and  Astronomical Services' Twitter account, an accumulated rainfall of 83.5 mm over Quezon City and 63.5 mm over Marikina was recorded in the past three hours.

PAGASA also noted “Heavy to Intense (10.0 to 30.0 mm/hr) rainfall over the rest of Metro Manila.”

The weather service predicted occasional Heavy to Intense (10.0 to 30.0 mm/hr) rainfall over Metro Manila. It will most likely continue for the next three hours.

According to PAGASA's color-coded rainfall and flood warning system, more than 30 mm of rain in one hour which is also expected to continue for two more hours is a "red warning."

"Evacuation" is PAGASA's recommended response.

PAGASA also warned of flooding in low-lying areas and areas near the river channels.

”Residents in high-risk areas are advised to take precautionary measures and monitor the weather condition and watch out for the next warning,” said the account. — BM, GMA News
