Cops secure Mendiola vs possible lightning protests

Police in Manila secured Mendiola Bridge near Malacañang Monday against possible lightning protests by militants to mark Araw ng Kagitingan.

Mendiola was closed to traffic to head off possible mobilizations marking Araw ng Kagitingan, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported.

President Benigno Aquino III was scheduled to be in Bataan early Monday to lead rites for Araw ng Kagitingan.

But Manila Police District spokesman Chief Inspector Erwin Margarejo said they will also continue patrolling important facilities in the city.

He added they will also keep watch over bus terminals as people return from their Holy Week vacation in the provinces.

Police will still keep watch over the Light Rail Transit stations and other important facilities in the city, he said. — RSJ, GMA News
