PAGASA: For 2nd time, temperature reaches record-high 34.5 degrees in NCR
For the second time in less than a week, temperatures in Metro Manila soared to a record-high 34.5 degrees Celsius Thursday afternoon, the highest recorded so far this year.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the highest temperature was recorded at 3 p.m. Thursday.
"Kaninang 3 p.m. nagtala tayo ng 34.5 degrees," PAGASA forecaster Ricky Fabregas said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said this matched the 34.5 degrees recorded last March 3, so far the hottest for this year in Metro Manila.
On Tuesday, PAGASA recorded the second highest temperature so far this year, at 34.4 degrees Celsius.
Fabregas said it is possible temperatures may go even higher in the coming days, adding the easterlies or winds from the east are affecting mainly Visayas and Mindanao.
"Wala tayong namamataang sama ng panahon maliban sa easterlies," he said.
On the other hand, PAGASA forecaster advised the public Wednesday to wear light comfortable clothing as they said the weather might get even hotter.
"Umpisa pa lang ng summer, kaya maghanda-handa na tayo ang pananggalang sa init at suoting presko at hindi makapal ... Ang lalaki dapat may sunblock din," PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said in an earlier interview on dzBB radio. — RSJ, GMA News
