2kg shabu seized in predawn drug raids in posh subdivision

At least two kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and various drug ingredients were seized in anti-drug raids on at least two houses inside a posh subdivision in Muntinlupa City before dawn Saturday. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency is now tracking down suspected Chinese nationals from Hong Kong who were believed to have rented the houses, radio dzBB reported. PDEA agents who raided the first house at 119 Kanlaon Street in Ayala Alabang subdivision found two kilos of shabu worth P10 to 11 million and ephedrine, an ingredient used in making shabu. The report said the second raid at 536 Country Club Drive also in Ayala Alabang yielded chemicals and ingredients used to make drugs. Last Jan. 6, at least five Chinese nationals were taken into custody while an undetermined amount of chemicals used to make drugs was seized in a raid on a suspected drug laboratory in Muntinlupa City. At the time, the PDEA raided the laboratory at 504 Acacia Avenue in Ayala Alabang. The Jan. 6 raid stemmed from a tip from local residents. — LBG, GMA News
