Korean detainee escapes from St. Luke’s hospital, now being hunted

Immigration agents are now tracking down a Korean national who escaped from a hospital in Taguig City last weekend.

The Bureau of Immigration also placed under investigation two of its personnel for the escape of Kim Tae Dong, according to a report on radio dzBB Wednesday.

Earlier reports said Kim escaped from the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City last Saturday, Christmas Eve.

Kim, who was arrested in Pasig City last July, faces criminal charges in South Korea for alleged casino fraud in 2010, the dzBB report said.

An initial investigation showed Kim was brought to the hospital last August for supposed hypertension, diabetes and abdominal pain.

Meanwhile, two of Kim's guards are now being investigated and may face criminal and administrative charges if they are found liable. –KG, GMA News
