4 dead in Bgy. Bahay Toro, QC townhouse fire

Four people were confirmed dead after a fire hit a townhouse along Road 10 in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City on Tuesday.

Quezon City Fire Marshal Supt. Don Samillano said the fatalities included two senior citizens aged 61 and 63, and two other companions aged 41 and 51, according to a report on Super Radyo dzBB.

The victims were found inside a comfort room, where they reportedly ran in an attempt to escape the fire.

One resident managed to get out of the burning structure, the report said.

Samillano said the structure had only one entrance and exit point.

The fire reached only the first alarm and was declared out at around 5:10 p.m.

According to Samillano, the QC Fire Department did not receive a telephone call reporting the fire. Instead, a person riding a motorcycle personally reported the incident to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Arson investigators are continuing to determine the cause of the fire. —LDF, GMA News
