ASEAN Travel Forum 2025 promotes region as 'unified tourism destination'


The entire region of Southeast Asia is being promoted as a unified tourism destination.

JOHOR BAHRU, Malaysia— The entire region of Southeast Asia is being promoted as a "unified tourism destination" at this year's ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF).

This, as it put the region's diverse travel experiences, vibrant cultures, traditions, and communities at center stage with the theme: "Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow.”

"These theme reflects our collective commitment to fostering cooperation, innovation, and resilience in the face of challenges among ASEAN," said Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia -- Dato Sri Tiong King Sing in his opening remarks.

"By working together, we can shape a thriving and interconnected tourism ecosystem that benefits all member nations," he added.

The event allows tourism ministers, government officials, and private companies to strengthen their partnerships with ASEAN neighbors.

Along with tourism ministers, several government officials, private companies, travel agencies, and potential buyers also attended the event.

About a hundred media representatives worldwide were also brought together to showcase the region's beauty.

"I hope this event inspires fresh perspectives, fosters dialogue, and drives innovative ideas that lead to fruitful business matching results and mutually beneficial outcomes. Together, let us seize this opportunity to create a brighter, more interconnected future, achieving results that uplift and empower ASEAN tourism industry," the ministry leader concluded.

ATF started in 1981, seeking to promote Southeast Asia as a cohesive travel destination. The countries involved are Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
