Palace: Work in gov't offices, classes suspended in NCR, Regions 3 and 4A on July 25, 2024

Malacañang has suspended work in government offices and classes covering all levels in Regions 3, 4A and National Capital Region on July 25 amid the massive flooding due to super typhoon Carina and southwest monsoon.

In a statement, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said that the July 25 work suspension will also aid in the rescue, recovery, relief and rehabilitation efforts of the government and the private sector.

Bersamin, however, said government agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services will continue with their operations and render the necessary services.

The suspension of work for private companies and offices, on the other hand, is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

Earlier, the Metro Manila Council already placed NCR under state of calamity amid the great flooding that already rendered main roads, even the North Luzon Express and Skyway ramps, impassable.

Carina, on the other hand, was upgraded to a super typhoon shortly before 5 pm today, July 24. —NB, GMA Integrated News
