Get on MRT-3’s 'love train' ahead of Valentine's Day

This month, love is not just in the air but also traveling along the rails.

For the whole month of February, also known as Love Month, passengers on Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 can look forward to special treats, according to Joseph Morong’s report Thursday on 24 Oras.

Apart from having the seats designed to look like park seats with cushions, the MRT-3 management decorated a train with colorful flowers and hearts.

Passengers wille be able to enjoy with witty love quotes, pick up lines and wordplay of a number of stations such as “I can Shaw you the world,” and “Ayalabyu” for the Shaw and Ayala stations, respectively.

And to complete the sweet V-Day feels, MRT-3 staff also distributed chocolates to passengers.

Sweet surprise

Another sweet moment recently occurred when a recent marriage proposal in the MRT-3 went viral on social media.

The couple, Mack and Yen, said MRT-3 management only brought them along for a photo op to showcase the Valentine's Day decor but Mack had other plans when he suddenly proposed to his girlfriend.

“Ang sarap lang po sa feeling na may kaya palang talagang panindigan ka, meron talagang tao na mag-stay dyan sa iyo kahit ang hirap hirap mo nang intindihin,” Yen Flores said in an interview.

(It's just nice to feel that someone can really stand by you, that there is someone who will stay with you even though it's hard for you to be understood.)

“Thank you, love, I love you!” as she said yes to Mack.

Still cheaper than riding a bus

Meanwhile, in line with the planned fare increase, MRT-3 Officer-In-Charge Jorgette Aquino said it would be implemented in the summer, despite having it petitioned for December.

“Sa MRT, may right timing,” said MRT-3 Officer-In-Charge Jorgette Aquino.

(In MRT, there is right timing.)

“Ang expectation namin is mga end of April, middle of May, implementation, kahit maaprubahan ang aming proposal magiging mababa pa rin tayo actually sa mga aircon buses,” she pointed out.

(Our expectation is the new fare rates will be implemented at the end of April or middle of May. Even when our proposal is approved, our fare will still be lower than those of airconditioned buses.) —Sherylin Untalan/RF, GMA Integrated News
