Baste Duterte to Imee Marcos: My apology wasn’t over my remarks against your brother
Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte over the weekend called out Senator Imee Marcos for what he described as “drama,” as he said he apologized for different reasons other than his remarks made against her brother, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
In a post uploaded on his official Facebook account, Duterte said he released the statement to clarify his supposed apology for pointed remarks he made against the President, as he said this has been used for drama.“Madame Imee, linawin ko lang kasi ginagamit mo na sa drama mo diyan sa media. Humingi ako ng tawad dahil naawa ako sa’yo, hindi dahil sa mga sinabi ko tungkol sa kapatid mo na presidente,” he said.
(Let me clear things because you are using what I sad as part of your drama in the media. I apologized to you because I felt sorry for you, not because of what I said about your brother the president.)
This comes as the senator last week said Duterte apologized to her for his remarks against the president during a rally in Davao City last week where he dared the country’s top official to resign from his position.
In response, Sen. Marcos said she had already spoken with Duterte over the matter, but declined to elaborate.
Nagkausap na kami, okay na… Naku, hindi na ako basta-basta magkukuwento, at sa kaguluhan ngayon ay napakadaling baliin at bigyan ng maling kahulugan,” she said in a report on GMA’s “24 Oras Weekend” on Sunday.“Parang may gustong mag-away kami, buti at nakapag-usap na kami, at hindi ko na ikukwento,” she added.
(We already talked, and it’s okay. I won’t just tell stories, as with the chaos happening now, this would easily be misconstrued and given a different meaning… It seems as though someone wants us to fight. It’s good that we had a talk.)
Duterte’s father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, also accused President Marcos of being a drug addict.Senator Marcos has since distanced herself from the exchange of tirades from both parties, as she said the accusations made against her brother were “crazy.”
Meanwhile, President Marcos said his predecessor’s claims could be caused by fentanyl, as he did not respond directly to his supposed involvement in illegal drugs, saying “I won’t even dignify the question.”—RF, GMA Integrated News
