Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Thursday advised the top 10 graduates of the PNP Academy to refrain from approaching politicians and influential people to get plum police posts.
Graduates should not be choosy with their assignments.
“Unang una, I advised them to let the good times roll. Huwag kayong mamili ng assignment. Huwag kayong lumapit sa pulitiko o sa influential government officials para makiusap na i-assign kayo sa ganitong unit,” he told the graduates at a press conference.
The top 10 PNPA graduates paid a courtesy call to the PNP chief Thursday morning.
“Sabi ko sa kanila kung kayo ay i-assign sa Basilan, go ahead, fight and fight there. Kung kayo ay in-assign sa Maguindanao, fight. Kahit saan huwag kayong manghingi ng special treatment porke number 1 ka sa class, number 2 ka sa class,” he said.
What may be the assignment, dela Rosa said, “That’s your destiny. So, ‘yun ang dapat mong tanggapin."
Also, he said that seeking help from politicians would later prove to be disadvantageous to new police officers.

“Diyan mag-start ‘yung hindi magandang takbo ng career ninyo 'pag pinapakialaman na ng ibang tao ang trabaho mo, magkakaloko-loko ang career mo kung gusto mo agad yung kaka-graduate mo pa lang gusto mo agad ng enjoying na assignment. ”
The PNP chief also advised the top students not to be materialistic.
“Number 2 advise ko sa kanila, huwag magpasilaw sa pera. Kapag namatay kayo hindi nyo madala ang pera sa langit kaya trabaho lang nang trabaho. Huwag mag-isip ng magandag buhay diyan.”
He told them not to envy their colleagues who have nice cars and assignments.
“That’s their disadvantage. Your advantage is yung track na natanggap ninyo habang maaga pa kayo sa serbisyo dahil pagdating n’yo sa bandang dulo malaking kapital ‘yan. Capital outlay ‘yung paghihirap mo noong sa baba ka pa,” he said.
