Iglesia behind libel raps — Menorca

Defrocked Iglesia ni Cristo minister Lowell Menorca believes that the church is behind the libel cases filed against him.

In a press conference held after he was freed after posting a P20,000 bail on Friday, Menorca said that there were many signs that point to the involvement of Iglesia ni Cristo in the charges he is facing.

Menorca added that his legal woes are far from over.

"I’m actually expecting a lot more and everything would be taken according to what my lawyers will be advising me, but indeed we will face all of them," he said.

The INC has repeatedly denied having a hand in Menorca's arrest.

For now, Menorca is "happy and relieved" to be reunited with his wife and daughter.

Menorca also shed light on an INC organization called "SCAN International" that was allegedly behind his kidnap in July last year

According to the ex-minister, SCAN is a response team that helps in emergencies and calamities. It is an organization founded by INC executive minister Eduardo Manalo, he said.

"Napakalinis at buti ng layunin ng itatag ito ni Ka Eduardo Manalo... Yung abduction lang naman sakin. Pero hindi ibig sabihin nun na ang kabuuan ng SCAN ay masama," Menorca said.

Menorca is under the belief that some members of the SCAN kidnapped him because they suspected him of being the blogger Antonio Ebangelista.

However, he denied any involvement with the people behind the blog.

"Hindi ko nga kilala ko kung sino ang mga nasa likod nun," Menorca said.

"I really don't know the people behind Antonio Ebangelista. He's just a culmination of the unheard voices of INC members," he added.

A certain Antonio Ebangelista is the author of the Wordpress blog entitled "Iglesia ni Cristo -- Silent No More." The blog is dedicated to exposing the alleged corruption inside the INC. — APG, GMA News
