PVL: Petro Gazz completes series comeback vs. ZUS Coffee to arrange semis date with Creamline

Petro Gazz spoiled the dream run of ZUS Coffee, pulling off a 25-21, 25-19, 25-23 win in Game 3 of their quarterfinals bout to reach the Final Four of PVL All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
The Angels completed a series comeback against the Thunderbelles after dropping the best-of-three opener but winning the next two games to arrange a semifinals clash with defending champion Creamline starting on Saturday in Antipolo City.
Petro Gazz absorbed a shock Game 1 loss last Tuesday after the Thunderbelles eked out a 25-21, 25-23, 27-25 victory and drew closer to its dream semifinals run. But the Angels responded the big way after a dominant 25-19, 25-13, 28-26 revenge performance in Game 2.
And with poise come Game 3, the Angels made sure to get the job done and seal a spot in the semifinals.
But it wasn't without a challenge with ZUS Coffee staging multiple comeback attempts in Set 3, including a Chai Troncoso push on the ball that allowed the wards of head coach Jerry Yee to take a 21-20 lead.
Chinnie Arroyo then soared from the back and caught the sideline to deliver a 22-21 cushion before Joan Narit put the roof on MJ Phillips to tie things up at 23-all.
But Arroyo went wide on her outside kill to enable the Angels to secure the match point while Myla Pablo came up with a huge denial on Thea Gagate to punch their ticket to the next round.
Brooke Van Sickle led the show for Petro Gazz with 24 points while Phillips and Jonah Sabete chimed in with 10 and nine markers apiece. Sabete also collected 11 digs in the sweep victory.
Arroyo paced ZUS Coffee with 13 points as both Gagate and Troncoso posted 10 markers.
