Akari charges to PVL All-Filipino semis after ending Galeries' dream run

Akari is heading to the PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals after escaping Galeries, 19-25, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20, 15-12, on Thursday in Game 2 of their best-of-three quarterfinals series at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

Tied at 11 in the fifth set, an Andrea Marzan attack error and Eli Soyud attack handed Akari a comfortable lead. Ysa Jimenez salvaged the High Risers, but Jewel Encarnacion's attack also went out of bounds. Faith Nisperos then delivered the final blow to seal the victory.

Soyud led Akari with 20 points anchored on 18 attacks while Nisperos added 15 as the Chargers swept the High Risers.

Encarnacion had a game-high 21 points from 19 attacks and two blocks, while France Ronquillo and Roselle Baliton had 16 and 14 points, respectively, as Galeries ended its dream run in the All-Filipino Conference.

In Game 1, Akari defeated Galeries, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, 15-11.

Earlier, Choco Mucho also booked its slot in the semifinals.
