FEU stuns NU for the first time in six years, Ateneo beats UP in UAAP men's volleyball

Far Eastern University defeated National University for the first time in over six years, 27-25, 25-14, 25-23, on Sunday in the UAAP Season 87 men's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Tamaraws snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Bulldogs which dates back to their second-round defeat in Season 81 on April 28, 2019. The last time FEU won against NU was in the first round of the said season on February 16, 2019.
"'Yung trabaho namin, hindi kami tumitigil. Kung nakita n'yo yung moment sa ensayo namin, simula noong last game hanggang ngayon, hindi pa kami tumitigil mag-ensayo at hindi pa kami nagpapahinga. 'Yung dedication tsaka yung hard work, samahan natin ng magandang pamilya sa team, talagang nakikita yung result sa dulo,” FEU head coach Eddieson Orcullo said.
Dryx Saavedra had 20 points anchored on 17 attacks and three blocks, while Amet Bituin added 10 points as the Morayta-based squad improved to 3-0.
Buds Buddin had 12 points, while Leo Aringo added 10 points as NU absorbed its first loss after two matches.
Earlier, Ateneo de Manila University defeated the University of the Philippines, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-19.
Ken Batas and Jian Salarzon had 17 points apiece, while Amil Pacinio, Jr. had 15 points as the Blue Eagles improved to 2-1.
Angelo Lagando led the Fighting Maroons with 14 points, while Daniel Nicolas and Olayemi Raheem had 11 points apiece as UP slipped to 1-2.
